Albany, New York
Harriman led a multidisciplinary team to establish the redevelopment framework around a series of existing and planned transit nodes in the City of Albany. The region is expanding its Bus Rapid Transit system (BRT) along street corridors that connect neglected and deteriorated neighborhoods to the downtown and regional educational institutions. An extensive land use analysis and market evaluations were used to establish prototypes for redevelopment studies, which are the basis for new zoning designed to encourage transit-oriented development and spur neighborhood economic revitalization. Harriman was responsible for facilitating the community participation, urban design and zoning framework, working with a broad collection of stakeholders along the corridors.
