With its distinctive design and environmentally sensitive features, this high school has been featured in national magazines, publications by two government agencies, and a book on educational facility design. Articles have appeared in American School & University (AS&U), Landscape Architecture, Building Operating Management, Energy User News, School Planning & Management, Engineered Systems, Education Week, Water Environment & Technology, Interiors, and Engineering News-Record (ENR).
Publications by the National Clearinghouse for Educational Facilities and National Renewable Energy Laboratory in 2000 include Brunswick as a case study for environmentally friendly design. And the school is included as an example of effective interior design in Building Type Basics for Elementary and Secondary Schools, a reference book for architects.
The school was selected by American School & University for inclusion in its 1996 Architectural Portfolio of Outstanding School & University Design, and won an Award of Excellence from the National Commercial Builders Council.
