Longfellow Bridge Restoration Landscape Design

Boston, Massachusetts

Harriman developed circulation, access, and landscape improvements as part of the design team responsible for the restoration of the historic Longfellow Bridge between Cambridge and Boston. Working with Jacobs Engineering, the firm addressed two key initiatives as part of the restoration project. First, reestablishing a functional and aesthetically pleasing pedestrian environment on the Longfellow Bridge. Secondly, create a continuous system of unobstructed, accessible, legible, and convenient pedestrian and bicycle connections between the bridge, the adjacent city street fabric, and the Charles River Basin parkland.
