Maine State Cultural Services Building Exterior Envelope Analysis

Augusta, Maine

Harriman was retained to study the exterior envelope of the Maine State Cultural Services Building where sections of the failing limestone panel facade were breaking and falling off from various building faces.

The scope of the forensic analysis was to research the existing construction documents, remove panels to determine the condition of the support structure, provide a structural analysis of the conditions, and recommend corrective measures. A cost estimate of the corrective measures, as well as suggested phasing options, was included in the study.

The study also included an evaluation of the exterior glazed doors and costs to replace the doors with a more energy efficient and durable system.
