Harriman attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly reopened Connors Pool and Bathhouse, a project on which we served as the landscape architects. Governor Deval Patrick had the honor of cutting the ribbon on Thursday, July 26,2012. It was a perfect hot summer afternoon and the pool was filled with people cooling off in the refreshing water.
Harriman developed the site plan and landscape design for the rehabilitation of this public pool located on the Charles River in Waltham, Massachusetts. The pool, operated by the Department of Conservation and Recreation, is located on a sensitive riverfront site. The design incorporated riverfront restoration measures, ADA ramps, bike racks, trash receptacles, decorative paving, fencing, stone walls, erosion control measures and tree protection.
The facility, design by GMI Architects, was designed to be the first ‘Net Zero’ project for the State of Massachusetts, consuming less power than it produces on site through solar collection. Additionally, the facility meets LEED NC Silver certification requirements.
