Bailey Hall on the University of Southern Maine’s Gorham Campus is the academic heart of the school. Included in the variety of learning spaces and laboratories is the 300 seat lecture hall. Constructed in 1960, the room had not been renovated in over 50 years. Harriman worked closely with the University faculty and staff to identify current curricular needs and redesign the space accordingly. The full scope of renovations transformed the tired space into a 21st century learning environment.
In addition to new audio/visual technology, the project improved spatial acoustics, thermal comfort, lighting quality, ergonomic seating and finishes. The space now provides a functional space for a range of activities including lectures, movies, music performances and general assemblies.
