BJ’s Wholesale Club

Various Projects Throughout New England

Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Connecticut

Harriman has provided A/E services for a number of BJ’s Wholesale Clubs throughout New England. The wholesaler has a continual need to reconfigure and upgrade many of its nearly 200 retail outlets in order to respond to changing consumer needs. A typical renovation involves lighting replacement, new refrigerated displays and an update of finishes, along with associated mechanical and structural work. Harriman’s expertise in all trades, including refrigeration, allowed for a single, integrated team to perform all of the work.

The renovation in Medford, Massachusetts, involved BJ’s oldest store which was built in 1984 and was in need of a facelift. Work involved electrical service and plumbing for new freezer and cooler rooms, a reconfigured Tire Department and hundreds of abandoned utility lines were removed from the exposed ceiling. Each remodel requires a strategy of phasing to allow work within a store that is still in operation. In addition to renovations, Harriman has also provided services to thoroughly investigate and document existing conditions of several facilities.
