Concord, New Hampshire
The future realignment and re-organization of the I-95 highway corridor through the center of Concord provides the opportunity to dramatically shift the land use and urban design of a large area of the City. Harriman led a multi-disciplinary team including economic and engineering specialists and created a comprehensive master plan for the land that lies between the historic downtown and the highway. The master plan anticipates significant reorganization of the street network, transit and pedestrian patterns to create desirable parcels for development. The framework for the future emphasizes new visual and pedestrian connections between the historic district, state capital complex and an emerging open space network along the Concord River.
