President & CEO
Clif became Harriman’s President and CEO in 2008. Prior to that, he was the firm’s director of mechanical engineering
and a leader in designing energy-efficient and sustainable building systems. Clif and the firm have been sought out to help develop sustainable systems that use geothermal energy, fuel cells, and carbon neutral designs.
“Harriman has a strong vision of what it contributes to the built environment, to our clients and the communities we work in. We are committed to creating award winning designs
that lead us to high performing, relevant solutions to our client’s needs.”
You might be surprised to learn that Clif was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates as a pitcher while still in college at the University of Maine in Orono. The lure of a professional baseball career was difficult to walk away from. Clif realized that making it in baseball was a long shot, but walking out of college with a degree was a safer long-range choice. Baseball is still in his blood. He is part of a semi-pro league in Portland. “All us old codgers running around on creaky legs.”
His interest in engineering started early. “Only thing that held any interest for me was mechanical concepts –tinker toys, erector sets, and motorcycles.” That continues today as he works with institutional and retail clients to push the envelope designing geothermal heating, wind energy, and highly efficient heating and cooling systems.
Clif received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maine and lives with his wife in Auburn.
