As a principal, Jim oversees the firm’s civil and structural engineering studio, guiding contract development, client relations, and construction administration as well as providing direct project oversight to projects in development. Jim has more than twenty-five years of experience in structural engineering, with extensive knowledge of building systems utilizing steel, wood, masonry, concrete, and pre-cast concrete elements. He has served as structural-engineer-of-record for new construction and major renovation projects spanning the medical, educational, commercial, industrial, housing and retail markets.
He has a broad knowledge of the Structural Inspections program requirements specified in the International Building Code, and is proficient in numerous design and analysis software programs that include RAM Structural Steel System, RISA-3D and Revit. Jim also has experience in the analysis and structural restoration of historic structures in accordance with National Park Service standards, including rehabilitation of existing wood and steel structural systems and restoration of exterior multi-wythe masonry structures.
