Harriman Welcomes Kartik Shah, LEED AP as Senior Urban Designer

Designer Brings International Urban Planning Experience to Northeast Firm

Harriman welcomes Kartik Shah, LEED AP, to its Boston office as a senior urban designer. Kartik brings more than 15 years of experience in managing and leading urban design and planning projects in the United States and internationally. At Harriman, he will be responsible for the design, presentation, and production of complex planning projects, including leading design staff and participating in the leadership of Harriman’s urban design and planning studio.

“Kartik has exactly the type of multi-disciplinary background and perspective that drives our practice,” said Steven Cecil, principal of Harriman. “A skilled architect with years of urban design experience and a real estate degree, he adds a dimension to help us serve our clients better.”

Prior to joining Harriman, Kartik was responsible for a range of diverse project types and scales including national development plans, city-wide master plans, mixed-use developments, urban infill, and academic and healthcare campus master plans. He brings design and leadership experience from SOM, Chicago; HOK, Washington DC and Chicago; and Cannon Design, Boston.

Kartik holds a Master of Science in Real Estate Development from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Master of Science in Urban Design from University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, where he was awarded the A. Alfred Taubman Fellowship for Urban Design. He received a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Mumbai in Mumbai, India, and has achieved LEED AP accreditation. Kartik is an active member of ULI Boston.
