This new Saco River Dentistry state-of-the-art medical office building replaces an existing, smaller dental office on the same site which remained operational until project completion and move-in. This new facility was designed to accommodate a growing community-focused dental practice which has increased to more than 26 staff. Harriman worked closely with the client and the local design review committee to create a building that supports community ideals, enhancing the village center as well as the vision of the client.
The building design was inspired by the Owner’s wish to incorporate an existing barn into the overall plan. Although this proved not to be feasible, Harriman worked closely with a timber framer to create a soaring, 2-story timber structure which includes a 2-story tall sunny waiting area, administrative and business functions as well as private offices and conference room overlooking the waiting area.
The timber-framed administrative wing is connected to the clinical wing with a light-filled glass connector. Each wing overlooks a new, landscaped courtyard. The traditionally framed clinical wing includes state-of-the-art operatories—each bathed in natural light with large windows framing views of the surrounding, lush landscaping and scenic, rural vistas. Harriman is proud to have worked closely with the Owner and the construction team in creating a building and site that is reflective of his love of the environment and commitment to the community and patient care and comfort.
