Harriman recently completed conceptual planning for the State of Maine’s primary data processing facility. The data center is programmed to be approximately 43,000 sq. ft. and house 10,200 sq. ft of raised floor to serve both network communications and data processing needs. The facility is being designed to “Tier III” data center standards.
The new data center will be designed to LEED and sustainable design concepts. Instead of conventional computer room air-conditioning units, custom-built air handling units will be provided to serve the cooling needs of the main machine room. Energy efficiency will be improved through control of these units to provide the necessary cooling, humidification and dehumidification requirements. Heat recovery will be utilized to reheat dehumidified air in the summer months and to heat office and other areas in the winter. Water side free cooling is also provided.
