Planning for a Coastal Community
The Town of Hull is a unique coastal community stretching along the edge of Boston Harbor. Harriman has assisted the Town with a sequence of planning assignments over a twenty-year period. The planning has focused on the relationship between land uses, development and preservation and their relationship to the surrounding harbors and bays. Most recently, Harriman has prepared an economic and infrastructure improvement plan for Pemberton Point at the northern end of the Town and a unified strategy for significant improvements now underway along Nantasket Beach. Preceding planning contributions have included:
- Hull Vision Plan – a town-wide vision plan engaging hundreds of residents in workshops and other programs. The harbor plan established town policies and programs consistent with the Chapter 91 state regulatory framework and serves as its Municipal Harbor Plan (per 301 CMR 23.00).
- Nantasket Pier Study – Harriman prepared the dredging and redevelopment feasibility study preceding the successful reinvestment in this important recreational and commercial pier.
- Hull Comprehensive Plan – Harriman prepared the town-wide Comprehensive Master Plan with a significant focus on land use and economic development.
